5th District embraces the community
To say that officers in the 5th District have been busy this fall with activities might be a bit of an understatement. Residents of all ages had numerous opportunities to get to know the police as community members, not just law enforcement officers. Whether supporting charities, taking kids to the circus or bringing aware- ness to a serious issue, the Calumet district embraced each engag- ing moment.
On Oct. 6, the district held its “Living Behind the Mask” Domestic Violence Masquerade Gala. Victims shared their stories and were celebrated by attendees for their strength to start new lives beyond the violence.
Officers created pieces of
art and continued to build relationships with local youth during a hand-casting event with students at Poe Classical School.
