Westside Police and Youth Sports teams shine in basketball title games
Six teams from four Chicago police districts squared off on Feb. 22 for the championship games of the Westside Police and Youth Sports Conference’s basketball season.
Teams of kids ages 8-14 from the 10th, 11th, 15th and 25th Districts took to the court inside the crowded Arthur L. Turner Gymnasium at UCAN. Attendees included 15th District officers
and explorers, who offered support to the various squads. While titles were earned on the court, organizers praised the community for turning out to cheer on the young athletes, who are part of the program aimed at providing safe activities for children and their families in high-crime, under-resourced ar-
eas of the West Side.
