48 CHICAGO LODGE 7 ■ MARCH 2020
Ninth District
17th District
Cops and the Community
February brought some of the coldest weather of the year to Chicago, but that didn’t stop the city from showing its celebra- tory spirit. Chicago Police Officers did their part to enjoy some of the fun while ensuring the safety of residents and visitors who joined in the festivities throughout the community. And, as always, Chicago’s finest also took time to give back to resi- dents through charitable efforts worth celebrating.

Chinatown came alive on Feb. 2 during the annual Chinese New Year pa- rade. In addition to the colorful costumes and floats, officers from the Ninth District marched in the parade and mingled with community members in attendance.
Officers in the 17th District felt the Valentine’s Day love from students at Sau- ganash School, on the city’s Northwest Side. Youngsters cut out construction paper hearts and wrote cute notes addressed to “police officer.” The district tweeted a thank-you photo to the students that embodied the best of inter- actions between police and young people.
