Use the Espresso pencil to shade new areas and reinforce and deepen some of the shaded areas. Start with the stocking hat and work down the design. Lightly shade the bottom of each black check on the hat, the sides and a bit on bottom edge of the hat trim, a touch around the eyes, and the bottom of the carrot nose. Lightly shade under the chin, side corners of the body, and a touch on the lower tips of the stars. Continuing with the Espresso pencil, lightly shade the base and tips of the candy canes (especially the one in back), on the inside curve of the candy canes, and the inside edge of each small red candy cane stripe. Lightly repeat the darkest shading on the candy bag, the darkest areas of each section of the scarf, and the fringe of the scarf.
Now use a sharp Espresso pencil to line each element of the design (be careful to keep it light here and there in the darkest areas to emphasize and clean up that area). Partially and lightly line around the hat, hat checks, hat trim, face and body. Line the swirly hair around the carrot nose, the mouth, and add the cross-hatching to the black checks on the hat. Then lightly line around the scarf, all the polka-dots, the fringe, stars, and string holding the stars. Lightly line around the candy canes and candy bag. Line the candy bag stitches and string, and each of the snowflakes.
