TAIL
    CHEST & BELLY
 STEP 7
Tail
Use Traditional Burnt Umber and your no. 20/0 liner to separate the tail feathers as pictured between the Raw Sienna and the Mississippi Mud and between the Mississippi Mud and Grey Sky. Drybrush Cool White stripes across the lower half of the tail section. When dry, drybrush Lamp Black between the white stripes. Be very sketchy with these stripes.
STEP 8
Chest & Belly
Streak Antique Gold over basecoated chest and belly with your no. 1 round while not completely obscuring the underpainting.
Create streaky feathers with your no. 1 round using Starlight Gold under the wing, on the underside of the belly, and as a shade near the tail. In all other areas, add streaky feathers with Golden Straw.
Finally, use Light Buttermilk and a no. 20/0 liner to create the outermost wispy feathers. Again, I reload my brush after every two to three strokes for lines this delicate. With this color, focus on the front of the chest, a patch under the center of the hind wing, and on the rump. Allow the feathers to extend just beyond the already established body and over the legs slightly to create a fluffy bird!
