It’s been about two years since I heard the words “social distance.” I spent a long and lonely time not meeting my family and friends. I wish you
a peaceful and enjoyable Christmas this year! I painted with this wish in mind using the symbols of Christmas colors: red, green, white, and gold.
PREPARATION
Use a roller brush to paint the background to an eggshell finish using acrylic mixed color Dove Grey + Driftwood (7:1). Sand after drying. Make a horizontal line 3.5 inches (8.89 cm) from the bottom edge. Tape above this line. Paint Khaki Tan below the tape. Sand after drying. Trace pattern. When you draw a ball, you could use a similar size round object, like a jar, as a guideline.
Tip: When each step is finished, wipe the whole board with a shop towel to ensure a clean surface.
The brightest colors are used (Bright Red for red, Cadmium Yellow Pale for gold) in the focal area (red poinsettia, red and gold ball areas).
Step–by–Step paintings throughout the project show samples of several similar objects in different placements, colors, and brightness. To make a color brighter, add pure color (Bright Red or Cadmium Yellow Pale). To make it duller, add background color.
After Step 1 is complete and dry, apply the silkscreen prior to Step 2. Refer to application instructions that come with the silkscreen.
