INITIAL MIXES
(Color of the mixes should match the printed palette.) Black: Burnt Umber + French Ultramarine Blue
Warm White: Titanium White + Cadmium Yellow Pale
FLOWER POT & WHITE TIN TREE
MIX GREY VALUES
Medium: Titanium White + Black + Raw Sienna Dark: Medium value + Black
Low Dark: Dark value + Black
Light: Medium value + Titanium White
High Light: Light value + Titanium White
Step 1: Use the #10 brush to place paints as shown on the value placement Map 1. Blend moderately, following the shape of the pot. Lightly touch the brush to the surface while pulling the paint to blend. Dry. Wipe the surface.
Step 2: Use the #10 brush to emphasize the highlight and the shade areas–referring to the map (see Map 2 and Step–by–Step 2).
Step 3: Add cast shadows (see Step 3 of the color Step–by–Step and Map 2). The lines separating the pot from the table should be Black Mix (put a small amount of Blending and Glazing Medium on the brush). These shadows create the impression that the objects are resting on the table. Dry. Wipe the surface. Place shadows and accent colors while referring to Map 2.
