Thirty years ago, Judy Farnham moved to Fairbanks, Alaska, and never left, neither has her son, James. As a Cal Poly graduate with a degree in Home Economics, she landed a job in an Athabascan village, Nenana, about 50 miles from Fairbanks. It was truly a memorable experience. Judy eventually moved to Fairbanks and has since retired from teaching, now working as a substitute teacher. Judy’s love of tole painting has followed her all these years. She attended several conventions offered by the Society of Decorative Painters, where she learned from some of the most famous artists in the decorative painting world. That is where she really learned. Judy recently began using colored pencils from online classes and loves them. Judy applied all that she learned from some great teachers and created “Emma”. Judy also had a book published a few
