                    Transfer The Design
Secure the design to match the border, with 2 – 3 pieces of masking tape at the top to make sure it stays in place.
1. Do not transfer the Eiffel Tower. You will first paint the sky and let it dry.
2. Do not transfer the designs on the napkin. You will first undercoat the napkin.
Oil Palette Set Up And Mixes
See Illustration. The formula for color mixes is shown with the color chart. If you diagram your palette as shown, you’ll find it easier to follow while looking at the provided colormap for color placement. Mix the colors for each item as you go and keep your palette in a covered container in a cool place. Cover your palette so you can use it later without having to remix the colors.
LET’S PAINT
I have provided a Color Map that will correspond with a Color Step by Step to show you how each area should look as you paint. Start with the lightest color (unless otherwise noted) and work your way out from there. You will blend as you add each new color, so to not over blend. Note that the cup and saucer will require a little more effort in blending, while the brass takes minimal effort. It is the very light and very dark areas that make the brass look shiny!
While blending – remember you can blend across the dotted lines – NOT across the solid lines.
The solid lines keep things separate.
Blending in the larger areas – I place the flat of my brush half on one color, half on the other.
Then carefully move the brush from side to side while slowly pulling the brush in the direction of the dotted lines, to maintain the shape of the item being painted. Wipe your brush and lightly mop over the area to remove and smooth any brush marks.
3. Do not transfer the lettering or any design on the cup and saucer. You will paint the cup and saucer first, possibly even a second time, allowing them to dry very well before decorating them with either my design or one of your own.
Transfer everything else within the border.
Back To Chest Preparation
Undercoat the following areas with acrylics and the No. 8 Chisel Blender.
Sky area remains Grey Sky.
Window trim – Antique White.
Wall space – Any color of your choice (mine is Rookwood Red – the color of my kitchen).
Note: you can see the window trim color and wall color in the empty/glass area of the French Press.
Napkin – Warm White.
Table – Soft Black.
After the undercoating is completed and dry, transfer the design to the napkin.
