Malay Traditional Marriage

               1. Noisy

Merisik comes from the word "risk" which means "to investigate". This means that before
a marriage takes place, an investigation into a girl needs to be carried out by the male family. To
assess and at the same time determine whether the girl deserves to be a daughter-in-law or not.
This activity is generally carried out by women who are middle-aged or who are around forty years
of age and over. This person is referred to by the local community as a persik artisan. His job is to
secretly observe the face or appearance and all behavior of the girl. For that, the persik must come
               to visit his house.
               2. Merasi

Merasi's purpose is to determine whether the pair you want to match is actually a match or
not. This means that merasi is an activity to predict or see the compatibility between couples who
want to be matched. This activity is usually carried out through the intermediary of an expert who
is used to the task of finding a mate for people who want to get married. The matchmaker will give
his opinion that the pair is considered suitable (suitable) or not.
               3. Suggest

If the research results show that the girl being investigated is well-behaved, then she
deserves to be made a daughter-in-law. So the family of the man informs and discusses it with the
closest relatives to determine the time for the proposal. After there is an agreement on the time or
day of the proposal. So the male family sends one of the elders (can be male or female) to inform
the female family. That in 3 or 5 days there will be a group that will come to do the proposal.

                                                                                                         116
