With a late start to the tournament with a 2.40pm game on the Saturday the boys were
keen to get stuck in to the games ahead and first up produced a fantastic team effort
defenisively to keep Mansfield to only 17 points after they had won their first game by
in excess of 30 points to win their first game. The second game against Tatura the
boys started like a house on fire and were up by 15 points and maintained this until
some late errors and some good play from Tatura the game tightened up and with a
couple of late scores won by 7. Sunday morning involved a trip to Tatura for the 3rd
game which was a neck and neck affair all game with the boys getting out to an 8 point
lead with Yarrawonga/Mulwala fighting back to get back to within four at the end of the
game. Our final game was against the other undefeated side in Echuca, following a
close and scrappy start the boys handled the pressure of the opposition and played
some great team basketball to get the lead out to 10 points and maintained this margin
and made their way through to the final. In the final against the Bendigo Braves 3rd
side the boys were slow to start and battled against the structures and pressures of
the opposition. The boys continued to fight the game out and battle all the way to the
end but were just not quite good enough against quality opposition.
