The eighth annual Canadian Arts & Fashion Awards brought together the country’s leading fashion artists, influencers, models, designers, retailers, and business leaders to honour those in the industry doing it best. Hosted by model Grace Mahary and actress Karine Vanasse, the gala, which took place on October 15 at the Fairmont Royal York Hotel, proved to be
a night to remember. Givenchy’s Matthew Williams made a virtual appearance to give out the 2022 Outstanding Achievement Award to SSENSE co-founders Rami Atallah, Firas Atallah, and Bassel Atallah, for the platform’s success as an e-retailer and content producer. Brooke Wall, founder and CEO of The Wall Group, picked up the 2022 Vanguard Award for her contributions as a leader in supporting the industry’s up-and-coming talents. New this year was the Changemaker Award, which went to Sage Paul and George Sully for their outstanding work championing Indigenous and Black creators. While Caroline Vreeland presented Fleur du Mal founder and CEO Jennifer Zuccarini with the International Canadian Designer Award, Melanie Auld took home the award for Accessory Designer
of the Year, and SENTALER won big with the Outerwear Brand of the Year Award. Other winners of the night included local favourites including Mr. Saturday for menswear, hairstylist Janet Jackson, and 2022’s top image maker, Jason Wu. For a night that celebrates Canadian fashion talents, the evening was another one for the books.
