three-stringed guitar player twirling the tassel on his fez around
his head. The view of the ocean from here is not to be missed.
The artist Henri Matisse traveled here in 1912, inspired by his

wanderings through this area and picking up many themes that
later showed up in much of his art.

The city has been reputed as a safe site for international spying.
Its position during spying periods of 19th and 20th centuries
and the Cold War is legendary. At that time Tangier acquired the
reputation of a smuggling and spying center and attracted
foreign capital via commercial liberty and political neutrality.

Tangier has also been subject for a wealth of spy fiction films
and books. Tangier was the real model for the famous American
film «Casablanca» with Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman.

European or African but a heady mix of all three.

Rick Steves said about Tangier, there’s so much to see here that
it makes the Star Wars cantina scene look bland.

A shop in the medina of Tangier is overload for the eyes with anything you could
        want including hand-crafted Moroccan frisbees.
