In the city of Beit Shemesh, many families face food insecurity, while local businesses generate large amounts of surplus food. The “Shuva Israel” nonprofit organization distributes food donations but struggles with manual processes and lack of coordination. The goal of this project is to develop a smart information system to manage food donations more efficiently. Our system connects donors with the organization and recipients, improving donation tracking and logistics. It also includes data analysis tools that support informed decision-making. The project integrates principles from Industrial Engineering and Management that offer technological solutions in answer to pressing social and environmental issues.

The goal of this project is to identify operational failures and improve the employee shuttle system of a company located in Ashdod serving around 4,000 workers, who use 67 different transportation lines, shuttling to and from 54 localities. Operated by private companies, the system suffers from rigid schedules and no pre-registration, affecting productivity and employee satisfaction. Real-time data from various seasons was analyzed using statistical metrics (average, standard deviation, occupancy rates) to assess demand and identify inefficiencies. This project implements the heuristic savings algorithm in Python to reduce travel costs by consolidating separate routes into more efficient ones and our recommendations include digital registration, demand-based routing, pilot programs, and ongoing monitoring. It also applies industrial engineering, operations research, and data-driven tools to enhance internal transport efficiency.
