evidences, handling and solving of cases..
Outcome:
• Helped students formulate their opinions and hone the decision making skills needed from
the forensic science perspective in relation to real life cases.
• Students are able to appreciate the various nuances that come into play during a crime scene
investigation and reassess the various decisions made in published cases with respect to
crime solving.
• Helped students to answer an open-ended question or develop a solution to an open-ended
problem with multiple potential solutions.
• Students developed skills in decision making in complex situations and were able to cope with
ambiguities

This assessment is intended to test your analytical skills with respect a particular evidence.

Case Details:
When the victims Mr. and Mrs. A of the burglary were returning from a family outing, they
noted a car parked in front of their house, which was stipulated to be the culprits’ Mr. X car.
When they opened the overhead garage doors, the wife walked into the garage, which was
attached to the house, and noticed that the rear door of the garage was open. She closed and
locked the door, a wooden door with 8 panes of glass in the middle. The 9-year-old son entered
the house first and made some noise. There was a 75-watt bulb lighted inside the house in the
area of the door. The chain lock on the door had been broken. As the wife entered the house,
she saw a man with a hooded blue sweatshirt coming down the hall toward her. The man ran
