Practical Approach To Sound and Vibration Troubleshooting
This course will provide a strategy and understanding of the methods and tools typically utilized to solve product sound and/or vibration concerns. The importance and options for making objective measurements that represent the product concern is reviewed, along with key aspects for conducting repeatable tests and utilizing proper data analysis methods. The course describes a variety of operating and artificial excitation tests that can be utilized for troubleshooting efforts, with a focus on specific acoustics and vibration techniques that can aid the troubleshooting process. Strategies to identify the complete noise path from the source to the response location will be reviewed with the purpose of understanding how to make decisions that will improve the product performance.
Objectives
• Introduce attendees to different NVH problem solving tools and their applications.
• Good measurement practices
• Understanding what the data tells us
• Case studies and examples will be shared
Prerequisites – Basic understand of Acoustics and Vibration, or completed Fundamentals of Acoustics and Vibration
Participants – Those looking to understand the application of different NVH tools and need to interpret results. Those faced with NVH related issues.
Linking CAE and Test For NVH Design, Simulation and Troubleshooting
Automotive manufacturers and suppliers are facing many NVH challenges, including NVH phenomena introduced by next generation powertrain technology, light-weighting initiatives and time to market. All of the traditional NVH phenomena are present and must be managed both inside and outside of the vehicle and for exterior vehicle often with a different emphasis in the case of hybrid, electric and alternative powertrain vehicles. This session, NVH challenges will be utilizing simulation to speed development time and best practices for NVH design, as well as fundamentals of troubleshooting utilizing a combination of test measurement techniques and CAE solutions. Learn how to design the sound and vibration characteristics of the vehicle, achieve the right sound, and avoid common mistakes, while experiencing virtual NVH prototypes.
Objectives
• Introduce attendees to the concept of NVH simulation
• Explore the use of Bruel & Kjaer NVH Simulators with examples from Altair and Romax tools sets.
• Discuss NVH target setting and achievement
• Review case studies from the automotive product development space.
Prerequisites – Fundamentals of Acoustics and Vibration, Understanding of advanced NVH concepts, basic understand of CAE concepts.
Participants – Those that own Bruel & Kjaer NVH Simulators, those working in the CAE/Simulation Space looking to understand better NVH test data, those looking to link NVH/ CAE together for faster product development.
