12 SOUND AND VIBRATION CONFERENCE
  Wednesday, September 11
The Role of Vibration in Fatigue
“The Role of Vibration in Fatigue” will explore the crucial link between vibration and fatigue and show that by understanding both we can avoid unnecessary over-design and prevent operational failures.
Objectives
• Basic principles of fatigue and durability
• Introduction to vibration
• How durability is influenced by vibration
• Creating equivalent shaker profiles for laboratory durability tests
• Running virtual shaker tests using finite element analysis (FEA)
• Application of vibration and fatigue analysis to both measured data and simulation results from FEA
• Using nCode software for vibration, fatigue, and durability analysis
Prerequisites – None required
Participants – Those interested in fatigue and durability
Powertrain Solutions
This full day course will cover transducer selection and mounting, data acquisition as well as an overview of available Bruel & Kjaer/HBM solutions that are used in typical powertrain testing. Real world case studies will be shared. There will be a focus on data postprocessing for order tracking, tachometer signal repair, speed profile creation, angle domain and torsional vibration analysis. Although not required, it is encouraged to bring a laptop with the latest version of BKConnect/Reflex installed. This allows the attendee to experiment with data sets on their own.
Objectives
• Share basics of powertrain testing
• Understand interactions between measured parameters
• Explore solutions to complex powertrain testing issues
• Discuss challenges facing powertrain testing engineers today
Prerequisites – None required
Participants – Those interested in Powertrain testing
