GCSE French
French holds an important place in our culture, as France is one of our nearest
neighbours.
Learning a foreign language is a skill that, in hindsight, everyone wishes they had
mastered when they were younger. Studying a language opens up a world of
opportunities for the future, no matter what career you choose. From translation
to business, and beyond, foreign language skills will allow you to communicate
more effectively with the French-speaking world. GCSE French can be useful on a
gap year or holiday abroad, and it can bring surprising benefits to your career, too.
Universities and employers highly value language skills.
In addition to learning to communicate in French, you will also improve vital
skills like communication, adaptability, memory, resilience and problem-solving.
Another benefit of language learning is that it enhances your understanding
of your own language and helps you develop a broader appreciation for other
cultures.

“I think French GCSE is a great subject to choose because it
is so enjoyable. In lessons there are loads of opportunities to
develop your speaking skills with your friends, and it helps
you learn about the language. I love French because it’s so
good to be able to learn a new language, and I like how the
lessons set you up for learning French fully if you want to go
on to do that, not just pass an exam.”
