What type of experience did you gain
at Illinois Tool Works?
As an engineering intern at ITW, I had
significant exposure to both engineering and
business best practices. I was able to work
with material processing and analysis, as well
as experiment design. I also interacted with
both suppliers to ITW as well as our customers
(including Ford Motor Co. and General Motors).
Outside of school what do you do for fun?
Beyond academics and KDR, in Champaign
I often visit the ARC, and run as well. Outside of
engineering, I enjoy reading and writing, so I’ve
taken classes exploring those topics as well as
doing both on my own. Finally, I enjoy camping
and hiking, and I usually try to set up a trip doing
one or both of those when I can find time

Any plans for after graduation?
Immediately after graduation, my
roommate and I are going to backpack
around Europe for three weeks. Upon
returning, I’ll have some time off before
starting work. On July 11th, I’ll enter the
Management Development Program with
Precision Castparts Corp. I don’t know yet
where I’ll be posted, but I’m looking forward
to moving around the country for the next
two years – it’s going to be a great adventure.

Bill Paris ’87 (pictured above left) recently traveled to Hawaii for the first time in
March for a friends 50th birthday. “Pearl Harbor was humbling. Hiking Diamond
Head was beautiful. My favorite part was the Kilauea volcano tour. Amazing!”
Dan Tempas ’78 shared a photo from the Spring of 1982 (pictured left). “A group
of friends from KDR packed up and drove straight from Illinois to Florida for
Spring Break. Here we are in front of the fraternity house just before we left. Thor
is seeing us off!”
Eric Reside ’08 (pictured above) was married on May 30, 2015 at Cafe Brauer
(Lincoln Park Zoo) in Chicago, Illinois. “Married my beautiful wife Susan and
we celebrated the night with 180+ family and friends, including a healthy group
of KDR gentlemen. Our honeymoon was two wonderful weeks in Hawaii.”
