              TRAVEL

Join us for an epic journey to Kenya to view wild animals and create lifetime memories.

     KENYA UNDER CANVAS
Mount Kenya will play backdrop to your first adventure as you stay in the rustic Serena Mountain Lodge, located
7,200 feet high on the mountain’s slopes. Colobus monkeys and Sykes monkeys hang out nearby, as do elephants,
rhinos, buffalo, and more at the hotel’s illuminated waterhole.

Next, go on daytime drives to find the famous Big Five: leopards, lions, rhinos, elephants, and buffalo. At night,
watch as giraffes, zebras, and other animals visit camp.

Observe leopards, lions, hippos, baboons, warthogs, rare giraffes and rhinos, and other animals in the
surrounding national park. Birders will have much to see, including pelicans, fish eagles, and marabou storks. Night
game drives, walks in the bush country, and hot air balloon rides are all possibilities. An additional three days spent
on the Maasai Mara’s savannah will thrill all.

Optional trip extensions are to Tsavo West National Park and Amboseli National Park.
Associate curator of mammals Joan Daniels (left) will accompany this trip and will

be able to tell you all about the Chicago Zoological Society’s support of animals
such as giraffes, elephants, and lions in this part of the world.
