blood; and without shed- ding of blood is no remis- sion. (Hebrews 9:22)
For then must he often have suffered since the foun- dation of the world: but now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself. (Hebrews 9:26)
When Jesus said, “It
is finished,” He broke the chains of sin. Now, because of his sacrifice, his blood can cleanse us from all sin.
Jesus rose from the grave, conquering death, hell and the grave for all those who believe in Him and accept His offer.
Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fa- thers; But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and with- out spot: (I Peter 1:18-19)
But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light,
we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Je- sus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. (I John 1:7)
Your next question may be, “how do we come to know the Lord Jesus Christ”?
We learn to know Jesus from the Scriptures. The Scriptures testify or tell of Jesus Christ.
Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are
they which testify of me.
(John 5:39)
Peter also made it very
clear that the born again experience is found in the Scripture...
Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of in- corruptible, by the Word of God, which liveth and abi- deth for ever. For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof fall- eth away. But the Word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the Word which by the gospel is preached unto you. (I Peter 1:23-25)
We become better ac- quainted with Jesus through the written Word.
Knowing Jesus is know- ing the Word; knowing the Word is knowing Jesus. One comes with the Other; they cannot be separated.
You cannot have Jesus, and ignore or denounce
the Word. Neither can you claim to believe the Word of God, and reject Jesus.
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. (John 1:1)
And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. (John 1:14)
What does it mean to believe? We must believe in
our heart.
The word, “believe,” in the
New Testament means more than a mental acceptance of truth. It is strong establish- ment of truth, affecting both the mind and actions of an individual.
It is more of a verb, expressing itself in daily actions. In fact, it can be called a “system,” or a “belief system.” It is to “have a firm” position on something. It is firm faith!
To believe is to commit oneself to. It is to adhere to in our principles of faith. When we believe, we begin to rely upon God for our lives.
This is much more than head knowledge. It is heart knowledge.
And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. (Acts 8:37)
When our belief system encompasses Jesus, we leave the lies and false religion behind us. All the old mind- sets that interfere with what we now believe must be cleansed, and our minds renewed. In a sense, we wash our brains from every thought that opposes Christ.
Many people just do not understand what it means to believe in the Jesus of the Bi- ble. They hold to a mind belief of Jesus Christ in history.
We must believe in the Jesus of the Word of God.
We must confess our faith in Jesus Christ.
When we truly believe in something, we will confess it. In verbally expressing our belief before witnesses, we solidify our belief.
For with the heart man believeth unto righteous- ness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. (Romans 10:10)
A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth spea- keth. (Luke 6:45)
Confession is a public and open statement, expressed verbally and by your actions. If we really believe in Christ, it will not only come from our lips in public, but our actions will show it before the world.
Jesus said...Whoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I con- fess also before My Father which is in heaven. (Mat- thew 10:32-33)
We cannot be ashamed, or hide it in any way. The way
spoke to Balaam, but Balaam refused to listen. God was so determined to communicate to this man that He actually resorted to using a donkey.
2 Peter 2:16 informs us that Balaam was But was rebuked for his iniquity: the dumb ass speaking with man’s voice forbad the madness of the prophet.
Just in case someone here thinks that God doesn’t want to talk to you, always remem- ber that God even used a don- key to get His message across.
Thirdly: Man can recog- nize God’s voice when He speaks.
The Bible verifies that be- lievers can know the voice of God. Jesus said in John 10:14, 16 and 27, I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine. And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and
we live our lives is the biggest confession we can make that we are a child of God.
Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of
my words in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the holy angels. (Mark 8:38)
What is it we are to be- lieve and confess?
We have seen, no man, religion or church can save us. Salvation comes only through the confession and belief that Jesus Christ is our Lord and Savior.
Jesus Christ is the only provision for salvation.
Jesus Christ hung on the cross by Himself. He died alone. He alone paid the horrible price for our salva- tion. No other man, church or religion died in our place to atone for our sins.
Mohammed, Buddha, Jo- seph Smith, Superman, your favorite TV hero, nor any- one else has ever, or could ever, give up his life for the sins of the world.
In fact, the bodies of all of the founders of the world’s religions, other than Jesus Christ, lie in their graves. Christ alone has no tomb stone or shrine marking the place of His remains.
But the Son of Man, Jesus Christ, rose from the grave. He is alive for evermore. Furthermore, no one, other than the Son of God, came to this earth and humbled Himself, that He might set an example for us.
Jesus yielded Himself unto death as the Final Sacrifice, once and for all. He shed His blood, and took a beating for each of us. He actually “poured out his life unto death.”
Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath poured out his soul unto death: and
he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the trans- gressors. (Isaiah 53:12)
By repenting and confess- ing these things, and allow- ing them to take hold in our heart and soul, we become justified, and empowered to live with Him forever.
Your next question may be, “What benefits will fol- low the new birth?”
If you have just acknowl- edged, confessed and accept- ed Jesus as your personal Savior, you are now ready to break open the package of blessings in your life.
After you have been born
one shepherd. My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:
It’s good to know that Fourthly: God has some- thing to say. Yes, our Lord has something of the utmost im- portance to say to mankind.
We are warned in Hebrews 3:7 and 8. Wherefore (as the Holy Ghost saith, Today if ye will hear his voice, Harden not your hearts, as in the provocation, in the day of temptation in the wilderness:
The “temptation in the desolate wilderness” and the “hardening your hearts,” mentioned in these verses, refer to the disobedience of
again, the Holy Spirit brings a mighty work of salvation into your life.
Our salvation has many benefits:
1. No matter how great our sins were, they were utterly removed. (Psalm 103:12)
2. Salvation brings with it a peace that the world could never give us. (John 14:27)
3. We become a new crea- ture. (II Corinthians 5:17)
4. We have the assurance of eternal life. (I John 5:13)
5. We become a member of God’s family. (Ephesians 1:5) (Galatians 4:7)
6. We have joy unspeak- able. (I Peter 1:8)
7. We have the witness of God’s Spirit that we are born of God. (Romans 8:16)
I believe the powerful words of John sums it all up in I John 5:10-13.
Now we must come to know the Jesus of the Bible.
There is no time for delay. If you do not know the Lord Jesus Christ as your personal Saviour, now is the time to receive Him as your Lord and Saviour.
Don’t delay. This is so important! We are warned... Boast not thyself of to mor- row; for thou knowest not what a day may bring forth. (Proverbs 27:1)
For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation. (II Corinthians 6:2)
If you have not surren- dered your life to Christ now is the time, to take that first step and become “born again.” This decision will place you on the road home... to Heaven!
In future editions of On The Road Home we are look- ing forward to sharing with you many “spiritual princi- ples” that will revolutionize your thinking and your life.

the nation of Israel.
After Israel was delivered
from Egyptian captivity, they repeatedly disobeyed when God spoke to them. In these same verses, God warns us to respond “positively” when He speaks and not “disobey” Him as Israel did.
The phrase, “Today if ye will hear his voice,” confirms that God still speaks to men in these present times, just as He did in times past. The warning to listen, confirms that He has something im- portant to say to us.

Adam, probably, looked at his arms and saw his hair standing up, because He was feeling the Shekinah glory of God. Adam may have said to Eve, “He must be just around that clump of trees. Oh, that light! It’s so bright! Yes, He’s the bright and morning star.
“Oh, my God, my Father, the giver of life. All day long I have been waiting for this moment. I am so glad to see you, to be with you, to hear your voice.”
If it were possible, I won- der how many of us would love to go back in some kind of time machine and stand with Adam as he waited with
such great anticipation for the King of kings and Lord of lords to come and communi- cate with him?
From God communicating with man in the beginning in the Garden of Eden, to God communicating with John about the end of the world on the Isle of Patmos, we see God reaching out to man.
Over and over again, the Bi- ble repeats the phrase, “and the Lord said,” “and the Lord said,” “and the Lord said.” This state- ment confirms that God does communicate with mankind.
Another prime example of this is in the story of Balaam in Numbers, chapter 22. God
