you’ll heal in time. You’ve been through worse, or maybe not. I know how much this will hurt you, sis. I know you love me, and I know you care about me. But I also know your strong faith will see you through anything and everything. It is more important to you than I am, and that’s okay. I understand. I just wish I could have accepted it into my life the way you have. I both envy and respect you for that.
So, I guess it’s time now for me to sign off. I hope someone compassionate breaks the news to you and I hope you won’t grieve long. Thank you for believing in me. I’m just sorry I couldn’t do the same.

Laura picked up her purse and phone as she ran out to her car, returning quickly to grab the letter from Lance. She hadn’t been back to the prison since Brian was placed in Isolation 21 days ago. She dialed as she sped down the highway. After layers of options and button pushing, a voice answered. She cried as she pleaded, “I need to speak with the Warden right away – it’s an emergency! A matter of life and death!” “Calm down,” the condescending voice repeated. “What seems to be the issue?”
