notes and appearing to recognize the tactics the anti-feminist defense was attempting to engage. I imagined them standing their ground until being verbally overpowered by the significant presence of testosterone seizing the majority vote inside that deliberation room.
Perhaps the fathers sitting on the jury did not commiserate with my loss as much as the prosecution had anticipated, or maybe we grossly underestimated the weaknesses of our own species. In hindsight, I cannot recall my reaction when the verdict was read. I’m not sure I experienced anything. I’m not even sure I believed it was happening. Walking like a robot out of the courtroom, I grabbed a cab back to the condo after the words spoken had echoed through the walls: We, the jury, find the defendant: “NOT GUILTY.”
