SCHEMATIC
I had always been a fan of visual presentations. At the office, everyone knew if they were to win my favor on a new project or idea, they had more of a chance to get what they wanted if they showed me some enticing visuals. That being said, my Ravenge Schematic had become a thing of beauty with timelines, arrows, worst-case scenarios and organizational charts connecting one phase to the next. One would think I was the creator behind the most popular crime or detective show.
The first diagrams clearly described how I planned to seize and detain Rachel. The next set of plans displayed how I would meticulously use my puppet, Brian as the default suspect for every step of the initial abduction and of course, what would come later. What would come later...the only part I left unscripted. I wasn’t sure if that was because I wanted a little mystery to keep the excitement alive within me, or whether I wanted to play the ending out in response to her reactions to her own punishments. Of course, I indulged many scenarios in my brain, each bringing me more pleasure than the last. I felt my face forming a gratifying grin recalling the law professors who praised my gift of understanding that no detail should be considered insignificant. I opened a bottle of Armand de Brignac Champagne to celebrate the completion of the schematic. I toasted myself, my brilliance, and at last being able to reach my final resolution. I toasted Brian, the fine folks who created The Houseguest Program, and even my old colleague, Tom. By the end of the second bottle, I was even toasting toast. My sense of humor was returning. It felt good to have a purpose again.
