More than Sorry
I can forgive you.
I can absolve
the words,
the acts
void of thoughtfulness. They do not linger, specifically.
Still,
what has been forgiven has left in its wake an undeniable energy which I have yet
to isolate.
To forgive is easy. The hard part
is that which remains of forgive and forget.
If only there were
other words...
you could speak them to me -- words that mean
more than sorry.
It is not the hurt.
It is not the pain.
Those emotions have expended their dominance
over my hours.
I grapple now
in what follows...
in what is left after sorry,
after forgiveness. What is left in the wake.
