Crossroad
I have entered a crossroad in my life, isolated and bereft.
I turn left, nothing is right.
I turn right, nothing is left.
The threads that bind my soul feel as though they may unravel, and the journey I must face
is of solitary travel.
This world’s despair encircles me with its evils and its cancers.
I continue to search inside to find what I believe are answers.
Of evilness and kindness,
the world has much more of the latter. If I believed they measured even close, nothing would ever matter.
To God, we pray, we wish, we hope on life, and space, and earth.
Then something happens and we wonder what our pleas are really worth.
I’ve followed counsel and advice
that’s been lovingly suggested.
It’s not enough when your world has been shaken and your faith so strongly tested.
Though their wisdom brings me comfort the expressions don’t feel real. Mere words cannot explain away the anguish that I feel.
Please help me Lord and universe. Give me the strength to carry on -- to somehow reconcile my soul with what is forever gone.
