I’m not saying it’s healthier not to try to attain higher levels of success. I’m saying we need to learn to be content during our time spent on THIS level, while striving to advance to the next. We need to find our own healthy balance of appreciation and desire. When more desire than appreciation is present, invisible chains wrap around our psyche that prevent us from moving freely forward while ensuring that the threshold of real happiness remains just beyond our reach.
It is easier to attain a high level of Stratitude if you practice consciously reducing your use of the word if in regular conversation. If is often accompanied by negativity, which reverses the positive effects of Stratitude. If only I would have = what could be. If only this would have happened = what should be. If this had not happened = what would be. The ifs make it a more difficult struggle to fully accept the “what is.” If you can truly master and adopt a strategy of gratitude, i.e., stratitude, it can change your life forever.
Gratitude and appreciation are in reaching peace of mind. They form the very foundation upon which you can build lasting contentment for your soul, for your self, for your life. It is a contentment that warrants the repeated use of the phrase “Thank You.” It is good practice to repeat that phrase each and every day, because there is always something present in our lives for which we can be thankful. Just who should you thank for the blessings that are present in your life? Thank God, thank yourself, thank your parents, thank the universe, thank goodness, thank your lucky stars . . . thank whomever or whatever you choose as the object of your gratitude, but show it, realize it, feel it.
