#SangamNiti INTRODUCTION

Letter-writing has a history that goes back in the annals of time. Yet,
they are poignant markers that help enlighten us about our past, while
stimulating our intellect in search of references that could be useful in
today’s world. In their content too, letters are an anti-thesis to a world
that is leaning on ever-shorter sentences and abbreviations. Hence,
through the medium of letters, I’ve sought to take the path less taken
and traverse a road that I hope will help my son, and the readers of
this collection, wonder at the visceral authenticity of my experiences
and observations. And I also know that in the feeling of oneness that
my letters seek to foster, the letter-writer will feel infinitely enriched by
the sensation of warmth that someone somewhere is sharing the same
sentiments.

It is said that letters often have a much longer life than their writers ever
imagined. I entrust this compilation in your hands with that belief.
