MATCH PLAY
The lowest handicap of the foursome becomes a zero
handicap and the other players receive the difference. Strokes
are given, as they fall on the scorecard, with 1/2 strokes given
on either nine. For example, Team A has a 6 handicap and a
15 handicap, Team B has a 9 handicap and a 13 handicap.
The 6 handicap on Team A becomes a zero and his partner
receives 9 shots. Their opponents receive 3 and 7 shots.
Because these are nine hole matches, they would receive 4-
1/2, 1-1/2 and 3-1/2 respectively.
SCORING
The winning team receives 1 point for each match they win.
In addition, each team receives 1 point for each hole they win
during their match plus 1/2 point for each halved hole.
Maximum point total per match is 8. For a match ending in a
tie, each team would receive 1/2 point each, plus 1 point for
each hole won in their match and 1/2 point for each halved
hole.
USGA RULES
USGA rules are in effect for Match Play and shall govern all
competitions. When in doubt, play two balls and record each
score. The PGA Professional staff will rule accordingly.
