Platonic Ideal of homomasculinity, I composed and photographed my best straight
friend since childhood in a blond-muscle shot that Chuck Renslow, Etienne, and Bob
Mizer could have immediately published on the covers of Mars, Triumph, and Physique
Pictorial, and that I could have published on the cover of the “Gay Jock Sports” issue
Drummer 20 (January 1978). My quintessential 50-year-old photograph pegs me for
