November 8. George and I have been going together a year
today (Swell). We went to show in afternoon to see Pigskin Parade.
Grand. In nite played cards and went riding. Had a fight.
November 9. Went riding in afternoon. In nite stayed home
             and popped corn. Fun!!!!!

November 10. In afternoon I slept. In evening we went rid-
ing. In nite played cards and then Shortie, Norine, George, and
             I went riding.

November 11. Armistice Day. In morning we saw parade and
went riding. In afternoon my honey, Georgie, and I went to show
The Road to Glory. Swell. This is probably the last show we’ll see
together for some time. I sure hate to see him go. [Notes in short-
hand] tonight?? We took a walk and then played cards. We won
the tournament. Ha! Last time we’ll tell one another goodbye for
a long time. We kissed each other on the steps as usual. That night
we both broke down. We just can’t say goodbye. We both love one
another. Went to bed about 1 A.M. I guess this is the last time
George will help me write him into my diary for a long time. He
hates to leave, but we guess it’s for the best.
George leaves 12 November 1936 until June 1937

November 12. George and I got up early on account of his leav-
ing. Went up and told Jimmie, Shortie, and Mrs. Holmes goodbye.
When he told Norine goodbye, he cried like a baby. I felt so sorry
for him. I started in then too. He said he hated to leave me and our
crowd. He kissed Mother goodbye and told Dad goodbye. (I wrote
George a letter in nite.) His eyes just filled up. I couldn’t take it. I
took him up to the bus depot. He kissed me several times. I cried
