and so did he but we managed to smile goodbye to one another. I
came home and cried and cried. I miss him so much. In afternoon
Mother and I went uptown. Took a ride. In evening I wrote my
darling a letter. Then went with Dad and mailed our letters.

November 13. I got a letter from George, card from Charlie.
We went to Springfield to take Norine over. I drove. In afternoon
we fooled around in the stores. In nite I wrote him a letter and
Mother and I went up to mail it in the car. Missed George so much.
November 14. I got another letter. Was I troubled? I worked
in afternoon. Mother met me. Then we took a ride and went after
Jimmie. Missed George not meeting me.

a letter. In afternoon Gloria and Marg. came up. Went to Hamil-
ton’s. In nite went to Springfield after Norine with Jimmie, Shortie,
Mother, and Mildred. Missed George an awful lot tonight.

November 16. Mother and I went riding in afternoon. In
evening I went up to Merrigan’s with Norine and Weezie. Had the
car. Took V. Smith, and M.E. Spaulding home.

November 17. I got a letter from my sweetheart. Mother and I
walked uptown. In evening I wrote my “Georgie” a letter. Mother
and I went up and mailed it. Took a little walk and came home. I
always miss George every place I go.

November 18. In afternoon Mother and I took a ride. In eve-
ning we went to Carrollton with Jimmie. Ran into a surprise party
at Eustacia’s. Fun. As usual, miss George.
November 19. I got a nice letter from George. In afternoon
Mother and I wrote George a letter. Norine and I went up and

missed our honeys. Jack Shumny called us the two “widows.”
