The General Died at Dawn and Ticket to Paradise. Swell. Missed
             Georgie. Went to Hamilton’s afterwards. 2 A.M.
December 30. Had the car in afternoon. Aunt Mag and Joe
came up. Aunt Mag has to go to the hospital again. In evening,
Jean and I went walking out to Gloria’s and to Merrigan’s. Had
             lots of fun. Real cold.

Aunt Mag Day Stelbrink dies 100 days later on April 12,
1938, the very day George returns from Minnesota to propose
             marriage.

December 31. Aunt Mag was operated on. Joe, Cecilia, and
Uncle Cap [Stelbrink] were here for dinner. John and I went to the
b.b. game in Roodhouse v. Routt. Took Jimmie and Mildred to
Carrollton. Sure missed George. I was with him a year ago tonite.

End note written inside back cover
“End of 1936, the most wonderful year, I believe, I ever spent.
George and I went together the whole year. Wonderful times. And
I got my wrist watch from George this year (Xmas).”
