Water Extraction. (“dry-out”) Removing water from the interior of an existing building in compliance with
The Clean Trust (IICRC) standards. Category 3 “black” water extraction (toxics, sewage) requires
protective clothing. Some Cat 2 jobs require a respirator and gloves. See the sections that follow. Work
done outside regular business hours (7 AM to 6 PM) may cost up to 50 percent more. These are costs
to the dry-out contractor. Add overhead and profit.
Emergency dry-out service call. Includes dispatch of a van equipped for water extraction work, a crew
of one certified dry-out technician and one helper, equipment setup, two hours of work and
demobilization when work is complete. These are minimum charges for job requiring extraction of
category 1 clean water (roof leak or broken water pipe) or category 2 (gray) water such as from a flood.
For category 3 (black) water, add the cost of personal protection equipment (PPE) from the section that
follows. For larger jobs, add the cost of pre-drying, structural water extraction (walls and ceilings),
demolition, repairs, disposal of debris, consumables and equipment rental from the sections that follow.
