The weather was this time a lot better than in 1995. The lure on this track was moved
around pullies and not a continuous line, something which suited a lot of breeds but
clearly irritated some Whippets and Greyhounds. At that time, it was still customary to
pull the hare high into the air at the end. The idea was that this would prevent fights over
the hare. Of course, it gave photographers the opportunity to take beautiful pictures, but
the owners of the dogs sometimes held their breath. Nowadays, this is no longer done.
