THE COMMUNITY IMPACT OF YOUR SUPPORT
SOS Children’s Villages Florida is a foster care community in Broward County, focusing on keeping siblings together after being removed from their homes and entering foster care.
On any given day, our Village is home to 72 boys and girls between the ages of newborn -18. Over the course of a year, we touch the lives of an average of 120 youth, 70+ alumni (former residents), and another 60+ young adults from the South Florida community who have aged out of foster care remain connected to us through the SOS Next Steps program. Children in foster care are often disadvantaged as they make their journey to adulthood. This is supported by the following facts:
50% CHANCE OF BECOMING HOMELESS WITHIN 18 MONTHS OF LEAVING FOSTER CARE.
47% CHANCE OF BEING UNEMPLOYED AT AGE 26. 33% CHANCE OF HAVING ALCOHOL/DRUG PROBLEMS.
With your support, we will continue to work hard to provide our children with a good start so that they can become contributing members of society and live the life every child deserves.
