Physical Education
Aims: To develop general knowledge and understanding of the biophysical principles of the
body and how they relate to movement. Demonstrate interpersonal skills in a group or
team. Examine the quality of movement in a chosen sport. Participate in a variety of
practical activities. To implement knowledge and understanding of biophysical and training
principles within a sporting context. Analyse and improve a physical skill performed by
themselves.
Competencies: Critical thinking; Interacting effectively with a diverse range of people in a
variety of contexts; Producing texts of all kinds: written, oral/aural, and visual, informative
and imaginative, informal and formal; Contributing appropriately as a group member;
Participating in new contexts.
Pathways this course contributes towards: A career in the creative, services, primary or
social and community sectors. This course allows for a future pathway in areas of Health
and Physical Education including physiotherapy, teaching, personal training, sports science,
health promotion, sport management and sport psychology.
