The Clever Monkey
Once upon a time there lived a monkey in a huge tree. Under that
tree there was a crocodile who lived in that river. One day the croco-
SHIVANJALI PILLAI dile asked monkey "can you please pluck some apples for me?" And
IV every day the crocodile asked apple and the monkey gave him. Finally
they became friends. The crocodile told his wife about his friend. And
his wife got jealous and his wife told I want monkey's heart and croco-
dile became shocked! The crocodile asked his
wife how could he kill his friend then the wife told otherwise she would do.
Finally the crocodile agreed. Then crocodile went to the monkey tree and
told the monkey, "My wife is calling you for dinner. Please come with me."
And the monkey climbed on the crocodile's back. When they reached the
center the crocodile told "I am going to take your heart", but the monkey
was very clever. The monkey asked "why didn’t you tell it before. I kept my
heart on the tree" and the crocodile told "go and get your heart" and when
the monkey reached his home the monkey screamed "Fool! who can keep his
heart in the tree?" And thus he saved his life.
