A hasty retreat
The Columbia Glacier in Alaska is known for moving quickly
(flowing up to 10m per day), but is gaining a reputation for
receding fast too. This false-colour satellite image was taken
in 2016. In 1986, the edge of the glacier almost reached
Heather Island (near the bottom of the image) – a difference
ALASKA,
of roughly 16km over a period of 30 years. USA
