Ice fishing capital
2
With 200km of frozen surface
for up to four months a year, it is
easy to see why Lake Simcoe is
considered the ice fishing capital of
Canada. Left behind by melting
glaciers, it once merged with some
of the Great Lakes to form the vast
Ice Age Lake Algonquin. There are
over 25,000 lakes in the province of
Ontario, holding roughly one-fifth
of Earth’s fresh surface water.
