themed short, Lim Kay Tong plays the
eponymous widower prepping for the
reunion dinner but his two grown-up
children — Egad! — have made other
plans. The six-minute film, directed by
K Rajagopol (A Yellow Bird), echoes the
works of the late Malaysian filmmaker
Yasmin Ahmad. Yes, it’s essentially a
telco ad without a sales pitch, but just a simple ‘stay over-selling it — this guy can convey a lot of emotions
connected’ message. Is it on the nose? A little bit but without saying much. Budding actors, please take
