Calcutta Kennel Club. Not only this, free medicines and
blankets are distributed among locally adopted breed owners.
Human companions with the dogs share their stories with
the audience, which are often heart-rending. The winners are
given trophies as well blankets and dog food packets. Other
than this, first-aid kits are also provided to the pet owners
along with mementos for their love and wonderful care for
their dogs. Those who work for the homeless dogs and take
extra care for them are also honored for their good deed
in the society. Barbara Edell, a show judge, said, “This is a
lovely experience. I am glad that Mousumi invited us for this
event. I’m a dog lover myself. I stay in California and own a
dog grooming shop out there. This effort is really appreciated
as they are doing so much to make people aware and do
things for the abused and physically challenged dogs. It was
an absolute pleasure seeing all these fur babies enjoying
together.” Dr Ronnie Edell, said, “I have never seen something
like this before. There are events like this that take place
in California as well, but I must say the event out here is
extraordinarily good. There is more warmth here and people
out here are extremely friendly in nature.” Dr Edell said he felt
bad that so many dogs are still ill-treated even this day. “They
are adorable and the only thing they need is love and care,”
he added. Dr Subhas Sarkar said, “It is really important to
groom dogs and make them visit a veterinary doctor at least
once a month. I am associated with this noble cause from the
very beginning and it’s lovely doing things for these fur babies
without any condition. We do health checkups for all the dogs
that visit this camp, provide diet charts, food packets, medical
kits, blankets and so much more. I feel extremely proud that I
am a part of this lovely event every year.”
