Vintage Vanities Offer Glamor in Modern Bedrooms

Antique Shops and NORTH PORT— High-end, expensive antique furniture is lovely, but it’s not for everyone. Many shoppers visit antique stores
take home a like Vintage Finders Warehouse looking for more everyday pieces that can withstand the pressures of life.
At the Warehouse, a popular piece is the lady’s vanity from the early to mid-20th century. While many women do their hair
Piece of History! and makeup standing up in a bathroom, others are returning to an earlier time when a lady sat at her vanity to style her hair
and apply makeup and perfume.
Many buyers say they re purchasing the vanities for teenage daughters, who enjoy the glamor of the practice.
Vanities seen at the Warehouse are in Art Deco, mid-century modern and especially the French Provincial style that was so
popular in the 1960s. The most sought-after vanities are those that still have their matching chair intact.
These vanities were mass-produced, but are made of solid wood and have stood the test of time. If the piece’s surfaces are
in bad shape, Warehouse owner Diane Castellano often gives it a new look with chalk paint.
Some buyers prefer to paint their new vanity themselves, and Castellano offers live lessons on Facebook for anyone looking
