The Lasso or Honda Knot
To form a lasso, tie a tight Over~
hand Knot in the rope end to sen'c as
a "stopper" (fig. 1). Then tie a loose
Overhand Knot in the standing part,
above the end" so that the end
emerges from the front of the loop,
toward the right (fig. Z).
Now, bring the end of the rope in
back of the loop and draw it up
through from the left (as shown by fig. 1
the arrow in fig. 2). to form a loop
within the loop, the end going
through the lower portion of the knot
as shown in figure 3.
Though simple, this knot must be
carefully formed, so that when it is
drawn tight the "stopper" knot will
catch and hold. This also is known as
a "Honda Knot."
To complete the lariat, draw a bight
through the large loop to form a run~
ning noose.
