Course Number: 7159 Semester
Prerequisite: .50 PE credit and member of a BHS athletic team
This course is designed for dedicated athletes looking to follow a rigorous weight training regimen to
improve in their sport. This unique course combines sound, proven strength and conditioning principles
with the latest methodologies to give our students a top athletic performance program in the nation. The
course will primarily take place in the ArcFit weight room; however, the course will also follow science
based principles that will call for short periods of active recovery to avoid detraining athletes and avoid
injuries. Periods of active recovery may involve activities in Welser Gym or Korb Field.
Being selected for Strength and Conditioning is a privilege. Space is limited to sixty students and should be
prioritized based on coach recommendations. Teachers of the course must approve students before they are
accepted.
Safety is a top priority in the weight room. Students not adhering to strength and conditioning standards are
therefore putting other students at risk and will be removed from the program.
