Are The Result Of Overeating
Robert H. Lustig in the Atlantic Journal in 2012 wrote a terrific article, entitled: “The Most Unhappy of
Pleasures: This Is Your Brain on Sugar”. Here are excerpts; for more detail, please read the entire article.
“By all estimates, obese people are not happy. Deficiency of brain serotonin causes severe clinical depression,
which is why serotonin reuptake inhibitors, which increase brain serotonin, are effective.”
“Not by chance, these medications are also used for obesity.
Serotonin is made from an amino acid called tryptophan. And the amino acid transporter that gets tryptophan
into the brain is easily perturbed.
If you're serotonin-deficient and depressed, you're going to want to boost your serotonin any way you can.
Eating more carbohydrates, especially processed sugar, initially does double duty -- it facilitates tryptophan
transport, and it generates a dopamine response for pleasure in the short-term.
But as the dopamine signal down-regulates, More Sugar Is Needed FOR THE SAME EFFECT, driving a
vicious cycle of consumption to generate a pleasure that withers in the face of persistent unhappiness.”
Did you notice in the last 5 spreads: (1) Hunger (2) Growling Stomach (3) Thyroid (4) Headache/Migraines, and
now, (5) Depression; the one thing they all had in common ? It was the Gut-Brain relationship. Your stomach
actually controls your brain in numerous negative ways that only proper eating can solve. ALL FIVE OF THEM
99% disappear in one easy way. . . . 99% are gone virtually OVERNIGHT by Eating Once-A-Day AT BEDTIME.
