Once your belly is full and you’ve enjoyed a sweet treat, it’s time to shop. The Old Mill has plenty of options for that. A great place to start is at the General Store located next to The Old Mill Restaurant. The door leading into the General Store is the original and it has tacks galore. Ask for the story. All we’ll say is that if this door could talk it would keep you engaged for hours. Inside the store you can pick up bags of the fresh ground yellow and white corn meal and grits. It’s all ground and bagged next door in
the Mill.
Across the street there are a few other shopping options. The Old Mill Farmhouse Kitchen is a must for the cooking lovers.
They sell an abundance of soup mixes, salad dressings, sauces, and other ingredients to help you create the delicious dishes you enjoyed at the on-property restaurants.
They also have a variety of kitchen gadgets, dishware, and other exclusive Old Mill items like jellies and preserves.
The Old Mill Pigeon River Pottery houses artisan designed pottery that will help your table come alive. In the back of the store you can watch these artists at work, forming the pottery that you see all around you in the store. It’s all unique, hand formed and painted. One-of-a-kind masterpieces made with the same clay recipe Douglas Ferguson used 70 years ago to create various works of art.
The newest shop (and maybe our favor- ite) is Sassafras. They offer jewelry, apparel and accessories for all of the fashionistas in your group. The most unique items sold are the over-the-top derby hats proudly on dis- play across the store. They’re vibrant, regal, and perfect for the Kentucky Derby or even a Royal wedding. The shop keepers are lovely and will do anything they can to make sure you find exactly what
you’re looking for. True Southern hospitality. The best part for us was the sizing. Sassafras carries sizes up to 3X in most pieces.
Now you see why The Old Mill is the perfect place to spend
a whole day while visiting Pigeon Forge. Just eat, shop and repeat. 37
