foremost upholders of righteous conduct. The world continues to stand in awe of the ultimate sacri ce He made for staying true to the Godward path and His commitment to righteousness. Those who hunger and thirst for food and drink do so to sustain their body’s needs. Here Christ speaks about that Divine food of spiritual awareness that leads an aspirant to the ful llment of God-realization.
As aspirants advance on the spiritual path, questions of right and wrong automatically come into play. However, it is very dif cult to de ne righteous behavior in one clear, objective way that all people would agree upon. Different individuals have different standards of righteousness, and labeling something as righteous is often only a comfortable convenience.
For instance, you condemn someone or highlight their faults when you are disappointed or angry with them. On the other hand, when you are pleased, you nd a way to minimize their faults and look the other way. Anyone can say another is wrong: “Why should he be so irritable? Why does she act that way towards me? Doesn’t he study Yoga or the Bible?” For that matter, anyone could easily assert that Christ shouldn’t have done this or shouldn’t have done that. Since the rules of righteous conduct are often relative in nature, you must develop increasing wisdom in order to act in the best way possible in any given circumstance.
