sweep over the inner realms of the unconscious, the complexes wither away and the imprisoned powers are released, just as fragrance escapes from blooming buds.
Your unconscious mind imitates others’ behavior and opinions like a monkey. If you place yourself in the company of a person whose mind is lled with fear and insecurity, you will develop these traits unknowingly. Similarly, if you place yourself in the company of a Sage whose personality radiates Divine Love, understanding, and spiritual strength, you will begin to discover exalted qualities within yourself. The elevated unconscious of a Sage exerts a benevolent in uence on the unconscious of a disciple. Just as water spills from a higher level to a lower level, so too, spiritual in uence cascades from an elevated mind to a less elevated mind.
There is an ancient Indian parable in which Sage Narada experiences the greatness of satsanga. Narada became eager to hear about the glory of satsanga and so he decided to ask the greatest authority— Lord Vishnu. Unfortunately, Lord Vishnu said he was too busy at the moment to give such a serious matter an adequate reply. However, he told Narada to go into the forest and nd a certain squirrel in a giant tree who would expound on the wonderful attributes of satsanga. Narada was puzzled.
