you have built your “house” on the shifting sands of illusion. The rains of af iction beat upon the roof of that house, and the storms of adversities shake its very foundation. In other words, these things are not necessarily permanent throughout your lifetime. To continue to depend on them at the risk of losing your mental balance implies that you continue to exist in a state of bondage, of karmic involvement, of repeated cycles of birth and death. This is the point that is illustrated by Lord Jesus:
Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: and the rain descended, the  oods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock. But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand: and the rain descended, the  oods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall. (KJV Matthew 7:24-26)
